Laniado is not just any hospital, it is the world-class Hospital with Heart. It is the main medical campus providing for over a quarter of a million diverse people in and around Netanya, Israel. Since its foundation it sees relieving the mental and physical suffering of all patients as the greatest mitzvah in the Torah.

Laniado was unique from its inception. It was founded by Rabbi Y Y Halberstam (The Klausenberger Rebbe z’tl) a Holocaust survivor who wanted the hospital to stand as a testimony to the sanctity of each and every life regardless of race, religion or faith. He lost his wife and all eleven children in the Holocaust and swore that should he survive its evil he would build a place whereall were welcome and were treated with dignity and compassion.  Why a hospital? Hospitals are predicated on the value of human life, at Laniado it is where the sanctity of the soul is treasured, life celebrated and suffering eased.

Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks singled out Laniado as a ‘place I always visit because it moves me almost beyond words.’

How could your generous legacy help Laniado?

Choose life. Gifting Laniado Hospital in your will means that you help finance desperately needed specialist equipment that could save lives over and over again.

Currently Laniado is building a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to cater to the larger numbers of babies born prematurely or very ill than it can currently cater for comfortably. Gifting us a legacy of any size means that we can replace old machines and invest in the latest medical technology, for example, incubators that could help save our tiniest miracles and give them the best chance of life.

When leaving a legacy, many donors choose to dedicate funds to a particular department or may wish to be a partner in the development of the hospital by dedicating a room or a new wing. Whatever the size of the legacy gift or which department it is to be used for, we endeavour to ensure that it is used to do the greatest good and with the utmost care and efficiency.

We can mount a dedication plaque in the hospital to honour your memory and those of your loved ones. We can also organise the recital of Kaddish and will commemorate a Yahrzeit.

In every sense of the word, Laniado is the epitome of Moshe Rabbenu’s great instruction ‘Uvacharta Bachayim’, “Choose life.”
